My new apartment has 2 swimming pools and I want to swim. Nothing wrong with swimming, only thing is I am having so much trouble finding a hijab friendly suit that is not bulky and uncomfortable, tight and reveling, or way out of my price range. I am kinda thinking of making my own but I just don't know where to start.

salams--Yeah I broke down one summer and went out and spent the $90 on an Islamic Swim suit. I like it okay. I usually wear a coverup over it also for extra cov. when not in the pool. I just found this site which looks a little less expensive (its in singapore $ but the conversion to US $ is less) The suits are also pretty cute and modest. I don't have any clue on how to make your own as I'm completely clueless when it comes to sewing. Sorry.
its difficult yeah...i was lamenting about wanting to swim. i have always loved to swim and have always been modest at the swimming pool or beach anyway but as a muslim, well being modest at the pool takes a lot more effort. a dear sister sent me an islamic lycra swimming outfit complete with the lycra matching hijab!! jazakallah khair kris!! but its still bulky to me...i wish i had lots of cash! i would open gyms/swim areas for sisters only!!!
i feel your pain.
